Shane and Shelby met while they were each students in 2018. Conversations sparked from the get-go. Six years later they tied the knot at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, where pretty surroundings combined with all-inclusive rental packages were the perfect fit for them.
In July 2022, in the comfort of their home, Shane asked Shelby to be his wife.
On April 6, 2024, the couple said “I do” at North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. The wedding venue is not far from Shane's childhood home in Emerald Isle, North Carolina.
It was so important to find a space that was inclusive and happened upon the aquarium. Honestly, they fell in love with the grounds. The beautiful boardwalk and the huge tanks were exactly what they envisioned, and the staff was so kind.
There are multiple spaces to pick from to host your ceremony at the aquarium. The couple said their vows under a canopy of trees and celebrated in the ship wreck tank portion of the aquarium. Shane and Shelby worked with Forget Me Knot's Delany to plan floral design, catering, and desserts.
Shane and Shelby chose Emerald Isle-based Ellen LeRoy Photography to capture their special day. Together with their videographers, When Two Becomes One Films, Ellen captured every moment of their wedding day.
The most important part of their wedding aesthetic was florals and sweets. The good energy that they both bring just felt right for them.
All of their decorations revolved around floral! They used their favorite flowers as the table centerpieces, and all of their guests got to take home a bag of chocolate to remind them of the good energy of the day.
Before the night came to an end, the couple took wedding portraits on the boardwalk. Their photographer was phenomenal. They felt like they could enjoy their day and trust her to catch everything without stress.
They hope that in telling their story, they remind people that everyone is deserving of love, acceptance and a stellar wedding.
