Lessons from a Bride: Brooke & Fisher's Big Day in Selma, NC
Brooke married Fisher on June 13, 2026, at The Hartwood in Selma, North Carolina. The pair began dating in middle school and have been together ever since.
Did you feel confident while planning your wedding?
I felt somewhat confident throughout the wedding planning process. There were a lot of things to think about and some stressful times, but overall, I think everything came together and worked out beautifully.
If you could turn back time, is there anything you'd do differently?
I think the only thing I would do differently if I could go back is hire a videographer. I think that has been a big regret of mine.
What were your wedding colors and theme?
Our wedding colors were black, white, neutral tones, and gold. I was going for a boho, modern, and elegant theme.
How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding day?
Since we both are a little shy in front of a large crowd, we decided to do a first touch and share our private vows. I'm so glad we chose to do this because it gave us a special moment together before the ceremony and allowed us to express our feelings privately without being in front of everyone.
Were there any wedding traditions that you sought to modernize?
We wanted our wedding day to feel personal to us rather than feeling like we had to follow every traditional expectation. We focused on the things that were most meaningful to us as a couple and made choices that reflected who we are and what we wanted out special day to look like.
What choices were you happiest with in the end?
I think everything turned out great! All of our vendors did an amazing job, and I was so happy to have each of them be a part of our big day.
Any other advice you'd like to share with engaged couples?
My advice would be to remember that it's your wedding day, so make sure you plan it the way you and your partner want it. Don't feel pressured to do things just because they are traditional or expected. Most importantly, enjoy your day and soak in every moment because it goes by so fast.
