John and Katie's Chapel Hill Wedding

John and Katie wanted to host an intimate wedding in one of their favorite places – Chapel Hill! The couple connected with Forget Me Knot. Forget Me Knot's Delany helped the couple plan the intimate wedding they’d dreamed of with a neutral color palette, greenery and pops of dusty and stormy blue. The wedding came together just the way John and Katie imagined it.

Long before their spring wedding vows, John and Katie met at work in 2019. The couple dated for several years and eventually moved to Maryland together in spring 2024. Little did she know, a big question was waiting for her. John asked her to marry him in the summer and Katie said yes.

Forget Me Knot helped the couple plan an outdoor wedding that incorporated a garden ceremony and tented reception. We felt like we were working with a friend and were at ease during the whole process.

The bride’s classic updo and soft, natural makeup was thanks to hair and makeup artists Wedded Kiss.

We love their work. Their approach with makeup is to show natural beauty, and their ability to make any hair vision come to life is amazing.

Katie also adorned elegant bridal jewelry that accentuated her structured, sleeveless lace gown, which was well-suited to the outdoor ceremony.

On Saturday, Mar. 22, 2025, John and Katie said “I do” in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Their wedding and reception venue took place at Old Lystra Inn. This wedding ceremony wasn’t complete, of course, without two of the couple’s pups.

After the ceremony, photographer Megan Glover Photography joined the newlyweds for a golden hour portrait session.

Megan is outstanding and so talented. We have loved every minute of working with her and she knows exactly how to make couples feel comfortable in order to capture the moment.

Rocky Top Catering catered the reception. John and Katie offered cake from Once in a Blue Moon for their guests to enjoy for dessert. Guests also walked away with stemless wine glasses which the couple had made special for the day.

The reception took place under a white tent set aglow by chandeliers and filled with stunning florals along with rentals from Curated Events. Dusty blue napkins with light purple candles and creamy florals, along with silver utensils completed romantic table settings. Willis J Entertainment kept guests dancing under the tent all evening.

Take in each moment, no matter how small. We encourage other brides-to-be to not allow anything in the way of their own happiness.
